There is definitely a buzz in Phoenix about HSMM-MESH.  Several new HSMM-MESH nodes are now operational with many more planned.  A concentrated effort is underway to begin connecting the nodes.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the Phoenix metropolitan area can tune to 442.70 MHz, PL 77, repeater at South Mountain where John (AC7PH) can be found or to 146.520s MHz simplex where Woody (K7CQX) and Brent (N7SKV) often monitor.

I have put up a node near Olive and Citrus Rd. No outside ant. but there is a node. I am new to this HSMM-Mesh so I am still learning about it and what I can do with it. 

I will be setting up my AirGrid at about Shea and the Indian Bend Wash. I have a clear shot to the east and hope to make a connection. I have tried with some lower gain antennas and a WRT56GL with no contact inside or out.

There are also several folks in the Mesa and Tempe area that are getting their nodes ready. I hope we can make this network work.

I'm interested in setting up a node. I live in the Southeast valley near Higley & Elliot Road in Gilbert.

I have several old WRT54G routers, and I know how to download the firmware and set up the node.

I was wondering how you guys did your physical setup? Did you use an outdoor omni or directional antenna, and did you need an amp?

I'm thinking of mounting the board out of the WRT54G in a weatherproof box and installing it somewhere on my roof wth a tl-link antenna. I'm thinking I'll run the ethernet wire and 12v up to the box.

Anybody have any advice?

A group of us in the Wickenburg/Congress, AZ area have tested with both the Linksys and Ubiquiti devices. We have used IP phones and IP camera for our testing. 1. The low power of the Linksys devices make them suitable for the last (mile??) local hook-up. The Ubiquiti devices have performed out in the desert with good quality phone audio and video at 5 miles. The setting was foothills on one end and valley on the other end. It appears that you do have to pay attention to the Fresnel zone. Height on the units is your friend. 2. We have had some surprising results on the back side of the sector antennas - nanostation M2 to rocket 120 deg sector at about a mile. 3. The video and audio drop out shortly after 5 miles with the Ubiquiti Rocket  120 deg sector  to NSM2. 4. The Linksys have worked well to multiplex phone and camera behind a sector antenna - better to direct connect if you can. 5. Our testing at 8 miles did not yield good results, but then we were aiming over the top of 30+ other 2.4Ghz routers. 6. We have not had good success with amps on the Linksys. 7. I have encountered several problems between the chair and the keyboard - but I am pleased with our successes.

Hello all... I'm in process of setting up a tribe here in Cottonwood in the Verde Valley. I have 4 nodes up and running and one is a tunnel. Anyone in the city running a server that I can connect to as a client?

PS: I've also hosted a nice high power echolink node here for a couple of years. Node 5544 covers almost the whole Verde Valley well into Sedona and Oak Creek. You'll find it here on 147.460 no pl tone. It's up 24 x 7 as long as the internet cables don't get cut again in New River. And that's why I'm setting up mesh capability.

WX4LTG-NSM2 is "live" in southern Scottsdale. Not seeing a whole of of neighbors out there...

I'm on a NanoStation M2, so it's directional. I see one node out east of me (KD7DMK-N13), but that's about it.

Hey everyone, I just got a WRT54GS and got the firmware installed. It seems to be working but I haven't been able to connect with anyone with just the stock antennas. Next step is getting a better antenna and maybe some type of amplifier??? Does anyone have a recommendation on what kind of antenna would work? Preferably something affordable.

I'm located in Mesa at Gilbert and Baseline. If I can get a good antenna set up hopefully I can connect with a few of you.
