I wrote the following letter to L-COM this morning and am awaiting an answer.  I just gained access to this site this morning and so far have been gaining a wealth of knowledge by reading past posts in this forum.

I particularly like the way this antenna is made since I am extremely paranoid about lightning strikes.  I have personally had three fiberglass VHF and UHF antennas vaporized by lightning which also inflicted assorted other damage around the house.  The past several years I have had a big heavy DB-224 on the top of the tower and no problem.

Anyway, the following is the body of the letter sent.  We shall see what the reply is like and go from there...

I am considering the use of the HG2415U-PRO in a Broadband-Hamnet amateur radio network and am confused between the specifications of the HG2412U-PRO and the HG2415U-PRO antennas.  The HG2415U-PRO specifications indicate a 15 dBi gain, however it is physically shorter in length than the HG2412U-PRO even considering the 12” connector pigtail.  Also the vertical beam width is less on the 12 dBi antenna than the 15 dBi antenna, which normally doesn’t correlate and the RF antenna plots are identical.  The ANATEL approval of the HG2412U-PRO is impressive and makes me wonder if it is the better choice regardless of overall gain.  I’m not a RF engineer, so I’m just comparing numbers and trying to make the best decision, but I want to make sure the numbers on the web site are correct.
