Just figured out how to do a P2P linkup between two nodes on my mesh. I will post info if there is anyone interested in this.

Winlink is a software program that allows your radio to act as a email system. If you are unfamiliar with Winlink follow this link for more information. https://www.winlink.org/

Once you get your winlink system up and running on your PC, you can then use it to send e mails over your mesh node system.

First, connect the PC you are going to use for winlink messages to your mesh directly with a network cable. Open a browser and type in http://localnode:8080/ to open up the status page for the node you are attached to. Click the mesh status button and then select the node that the person you want to send message to is attached to.

You are now looking for the WIFI address it will be something like 10.125.92.222/5. You don’t need the /5 but remember the rest of the address. Now you can open up winlink and set it up to work through your mesh.

You will be setting up a Telnet P2P connection. Only Peer to Peer messages will be sent so you must select that option when you make your messages to send on your mesh.

Address the message to the person you desire in the “To” box, their call sign is all that is needed. Finish your message and post it to your out box. All messages will be delivered to that operator when you link up to them.

Once you have a message to send it is time to open a session. Be sure that you have selected Telenet P2P from the dropdown menu next to the open session button. As of this writing it will be the eleventh option in the drop down menu.

When you click on the Open session button a window will open and it is there that you will tell the software who to connect with. Click the add station button, you will be presented with the Add P2P station dialog menu. Put the call sign in the name slot and the IP address if the station you are linking to in the IP address slot. No other entries are required. Click the start button and if the other operator is connected to his node your message should end up in his mail box.

There may be other ways of doing all this, but what I have presented works. Enjoy. Anyone needing more detail please enquire.

Hello,

I just tried doing this with Winlink and was unable to get it to work.  Every time I tried it it said it failed because "the target machine actively refused it.". I tried disabling the firewalls on both laptops and even enabling ports, but to no avail.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
