The Software Download page currently shows only v.1.0 firmware for Linksys devices. Is there some other location on the web site where v.1.1 downloads are available? |

Is there anyway to backup the settings of the old system before you upgrade? I noticed that the upgrade "blew away" my old configurations and I had to start from scratch. |

This raises a problem with the use case of upgrading distant nodes via the mesh connected to the Internet. You'd have to pull all nodes from the field and upgrade them with a direct wired connection.
I understand that there is a security issue with wireless upgrade, but...

Jessie
I identified this to the development team months ago. They have tolde that remote update will be a feature added to the web interface in the future. For now there are few options. If you can setup an internet gateway on your network to have access to the firmware, and you can get close enough to connect to your node through wifi you can use the "meshnode" ssid to connect to your node to do the configuration after you do the basic update via the administration page. No Ethernet cable connection to the router.
The other option is to take your laptop to the node and plug in a cable.
I too am investigating options for a remote update. I will post if I come up with a working solution.
I feel your pain. I have over a dozen nodes scattered around town to get updated.

I have the same issue to upgarde the firmware in a remote node AE6XE-10 in SoCal. It is 5 miles from my house and takes a half day trip to upgrade. I plan to configure a factory UBNT airOS image as a bridge on SSID "meshnode" with a 24dB grill dish. I'm assuming the airOS "AP-repeater" configuration will connect to a HamNet AP? I'll be testing "in the lab" tonight, unless anyone knows that this won't work? |
