Anyone else running nodes in the UK that's not on the map ? I'm planning on adding a few more!

Hi, just new to HSMM and this is my first post. One of my colleagues at Rochdale And District Amateur Radio Society (RADARS) G7DNM is keen to get nodes up and running in the Rochdale Lancashire area. I have a WRT54G updated with the firmware running at the moment. But I am not sure what I am going to do with it. I am on the map. There are possibly three or four other nodes up at the moment in the area but we are not in line of sight of each other. Robert M0NVQ

Good to see some other members from the UK!

Unfortunately, it would seem that we can't use the mesh in the UK any more, as the frequency it needs is no longer available.

I have been discussing it here: http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/hsmm-mesh-forums/view-postlist/forum-1-general/topic-966-mesh-in-the-uk.html Jack.

Hi Guys, Rob 2E0RPT here. I'v just read this thread and would like to invite you to (Possibly the 1st) UK meeting for BroadBand-HamNet, It will be held at C.A.R.C in Crawley on the 22nd May Starting at 10AM. We will be educating HAMs about what BBHN is and how its used and we will cover what we can & can't do (Including some of what you guys have been discussing) We will go over the status of BBHN here in the UK and go over future plans. We hope to form a BBHN-UK group to: 1) Promote BBHN & Demonstrate it to other HAMs beyond our group. 2) Organise building BBHN mesh networks & Internet tunnel Clients & Servers. 3) Maybe organise some Hill-top testing events. 4) Spread the knowledge so the more technical people can help the less technical. 5) Help any other UK BBHN group get started. (Provide info about nodes nr them, Help & So on) 6) Provide help to existing HAM clubs/groups. (Again info about nodes, Help & So on) As you can see we are pushing forward to get BBHN organised in the UK. BTW guys it sounds like your all isolated (Non Line of site) from each other, Have you considered using the internet Tunnel system? (Connecting BBHN nodes via Internet) And yes I know that is not strictly radio but no less than EchoLink or D-Star (I only say this because it's stated so often) But without tunnel clients & servers running on BBHN nodes it will be very difficult to promote BBHN in the UK. If your looking for a UK Tunnel server to connect to then please let me know. I have some empty slots on my tunnel server. You would also get connected to the rest of the world via my tunnel connection to K5KTF in TX,USA. that spreads out node by node via tunnel & RF (almost) world wide. 73 de Rob 2E0RPT.
